Topic:

EMC Virtual Twins

Electromagnetic modeling and simulation tools have improved much just over the past 20 years and have reached a point where many engineers use modeling tools in many areas such as antenna design, radar cross section, signal and power integrity, and EM hazard assessment, and yes, even electromagnetic compatibility.  EMC's beginning was tied to available laboratory equipment and methods and we currently have a great system for determining EMC performance using laboratory equipment and methods.  When computational electromagnetic (CEM) tools reached a place where they can be practically used, EMC measurements have already been established.  This presentation will be a discussion on what can be done to leverage CEM tools in EMC work.  Following the process written around measurements may not be the most effective use of CEM tools and may require new methodologies to be established.  There is currently an effort within the IEEE EMC Society to define CEM methods for EMC, details on this will also be presented!
