[Legacy Report] SEPTA Silverliner V Electric Multiple Unit Car
SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) is operating a fleet of 120 new electric multiple unit cars in regional commuter rail service around Philadelphia. The Silverliner V cars replace the Silverliner II and III fleets built between 1963 and 1968 and will supplement the Silverliner IV fleet from the mid 1970s.
The cars were designed and built by Hyundai-Rotem with shell assembly in Masan, South Korea and final assembly in South Philadelphia.
Our speaker will discuss the new features as compared with the old Silverliner IV cars, the general features of the fleet and how it is saving operating costs.
