The PES and IAS Chapters will sponsor a series of technical seminars on the topic of electrical testing. This first seminar will be on the topic of electrical testing of power transformers. The session will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Holiday Inn, 4701 Stelton Road, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.

Topic:
The seminar will cover electrical testing of oil-immersed power transformers. The agenda includes acceptance and maintenance testing practices and guidelines following ANSI/IEEE standards and new testing techniques, including:

• Insulation Resistance Measurement
• Dielectric Absorption Test
• Transformer Turns Ratio Test
• Winding Resistance
• Power Factor/Dissipation Factor
• Excitation Current
• Dielectric Breakdown in Oil
• Dielectric Frequency Response
• Sweep Frequency Response Analysis

The scope of this seminar is applicable to all oil-immersed power transformers, however the emphasis will be on testing power and distribution transformers in the range of 1MVA and larger.
