[Legacy Report] IEEE GOLD Cyprus AG 2nd General Meeting
Agenda: 1. Brief presentation of GOLD AG of Cyprus to the new members present at the meeting 2. Nominations for the Chair/vice-chair of GOLD Cyprus for the next term Pavlos Kleanthous (UCY, Cable Net - Nicosia) was nominated as the next chair and Konstantinos Michail (CUT - Limassol) was nominated as vice-chair. All present members committed to volunteer (help) with all the actions organized by the group. Irina Ciornei will remain part of the executive board as a delegate from the IEEE Cyprus Section when her IEEE GOLD member status will expire (December this year). 3. Steps toward the organization of the IEEE Day (2nd of Oct 2012). The event will be a joint action with the IEEE Cyprus Section, Chapters and Student Branches. - from the IEEE GOLD Cyprus side, the action will cover events for promoting IEEE and IEEE GOLD values among graduate students from the main universities among the Island (CUT, UNIC, UCY). The website of the group, Likedin, Google and (to be formed) Facebook groups will be also advertized as information resources. - volunteer members from the above mentioned universities (UNIC, UCY and CUT) will make arrangements for scheduling 20-30 minutes presentations on targeted classes (graduate students from different departments in their universities such as electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering). - the presentation shall focus on encouraging students to join IEEE and remain IEEE members after graduation. Emphasize the benefits of being and remaining a member such as: reduced fees after graduation if you continue to be a member, free technical and nontechnical trainings, online/distance mentorship program, international internships, worldwide job advertisement, HR trainings (e.g. CV, interview guidance), etc. A guidance presentation will be prepared by Irina. The next meeting of the group will be scheduled for the mid of October. The exact date and venue TBD according to members availability. Up to next meeting/ pending actions: Organize the Entrepreneurial Night/Day - prefered venue: a coffee shop. - ask approval for sponsorship for snacks and drinks from the IEEE Cyprus Section and search for other sponsorship - invite speakers and set up the date according to availability of the speakers (HR representatives from UCY or other enterprises, entrepreneurs incubators e.g. George Milis, Michael Tyrimos) - target attendees (graduate students and young engineers) but not limited, and advertise to all Cyprus Section Members and all students around the island.
