[Legacy Report] From Academia to Industry, How Digital Image Analysis Plays a Pivatol Roles in Biomedical Engineering
ABSTRACT. As anyone on Facebook or Reddit can attest, the modern
world has become flooded with digital images produced by cameras
which are constantly decreasing in cost. The same phenomenon is
occurring in the world of Biomedical Engineering and medicine. With
everything from skin cancer detection, to cosmetic care, to
pharmaceutical drug testing, digital images are growing in their
importance. The automatic analysis of these images presents an
exciting engineering challenge with a goal of improving patient care.
This talk highlights a unique perspective of the field as one
researcher makes the transition from academia into industry.
