About the topic:
Manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and many other domains have good IT solutions, matured over years. It is hard to imagine any of these running successfully without IT. These range from small accounting package to large ERP installations. Whereas, Agriculture is far from realizing benefits from IT; agriculture production in particular. Well established solutions like ERP, PLM and Supply-chain could NOT meet the varied needs of Agriculture. IT needs in Agriculture are fundamentally different from others. There are practical, economic, social and cultural limitations to the automation and mechanization that are aimed at by IT. These goals change widely across the countries as well. Nevertheless, IT is the need of hour when it comes to information dissemination, large scale analytics and in providing efficient markets.
This seminar aims at highlighting IT in Agriculture at gross root levels and assessing practical and economic impact on Farmers, Traders and Market yards.
