One Day Seminar on BRAIN INSPIRED COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE
The most important part of the seminar is the live demonstration of the SpinNaker machine, which is one of the prestigious developments by Prof. Steve Furber in University of Manchester, where Dr. Basabdatta has been working for several years for both Ph.D. and post-doctoral research. The SpinNaker machine was originally developed to emulate functional behavior human nervous system. Nowadays it is used for other applications too.
The seminar began at 12.00 hours with a brief introduction to the scope of the topic by Mrs. Mousumi Laha, a research scholar of Artificial ntelligence Lab, ETCE dept., Jadavpur University. Dr. Pratyusha Rakshit of ETCE department, Jadavpur University was the session chair of Dr. Sen Bhattacharya’s presentation. In her presentation, Dr. Basabdatta Sen Bhattacharya gave an introduction to the overall area of brain-inspired computational intelligence. Second, she presented her recent experiences of modeling brain-inspired neural network on a brain-inspired hardware, called the SpiNNaker machine. In the third and final part of the talk, she presented her own contribution to the area of population modeling of neural networks, which has immense potential to clinical neuroscience.
