Biography:
Bob has been in the electric utility industry for over 32 years. He started his career with Virginia Power and then Georgia Power in the areas of SCADA and protection and controls. After 7 years of working directly for utilities, Bob has spent the last 23 years working for vendors that support electric utilities. On the vendor side Bob has provided training, technical support, project management, installation support and sales. He is a contributing author in the area of Voltage Reduction and VVO for the Smart Grids, Infrastructure, Technology and Solutions and also the second edition, Smart Grids, Advanced Technologies and Solutions. He is currently with AMSC as an applications engineer and Regional Sales Manager of the eastern US.

Michael Ross, P.E of American SuperConductors

Biography:
Mr. Ross has been with the AMSC team for seventeen years. He joined AMSC as a Transmission and Distribution Planning Engineer, designing technical solutions and applications for utilities and industry utilizing AMSC Power Electronic and High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) products. Later, he became the Director of AMSC’s FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) Product Line and then the Managing Director of AMSC’s Superconductor Power Systems Product Line where he works with our customers to find optimized solutions utilizing AMSC’s Superconductor Cable and Fault Current Limiter Products and ensure that the products are ideally designed for our customers.
Prior to joining AMSC, Mr. Ross worked in the transmission planning department for Xcel Energy (formally Northern States Power).
Mr. Ross received a BSEE degree from North Dakota State University in 2000 and has performed post graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mr. Ross is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin and a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and CIGRE.
