Another Solutions based presentation in our series on Available ArcFlash Solutions.  As with our May presentation by ABB, this presentation by  Eaton, is  in part, specific to their product based solution.  This presentation may not be 100%  Vendor Neutral, but the discussion the presentation prompts will be.  As we experienced during our May presentation, we expect the presentation to evolve into an active discussion on the application pros and cons of various Arc Flash mitigating options.   Join us for Round Two of our survey of Arc Flash Mitigating Solutions.  If you have a suggestion for the next presentation for this series on Available ArcFlash Solutions , please let the Program Chair know,   Finn Schenck, IEM.  finn.schenck@iemfg.com.  We appreciate your involvement.

CURRENT LIMITING ARC FLASH QUENCHING SYSTEM FOR IMPROVED INCIDENT ENERGY REDUCTION

- In response to a growing concern to mitigate arc flash incident energy hazards, the latest edition of the National Electric Code NFPA70-2017 includes requirements for reducing clearing time of overcurrent protective devices with a continuous current rating of 1200A or higher. Section 240.87 lists seven options for reducing arc fault energy. This presentation will briefly review the defined methods of reducing incident energy as outlined in the Standard, with focus on option 4: energy-reducing arc flash mitigation systems.
