NFPA 110- Standards for Emergency and Standby Power Systems and NFPA 70- National Electrical Codes (NEC)
IEEE Oakland East Bay PES Chapter is Open for Service: Join us at this Joint meeting with the SF IAS Chapter:
Modern power systems’ reliability heavily depends on backup power supplied by onsite generators and large scale battery storage. The generators, when utilized, can be classified as Emergency or Standby Generators which are primarily covered by NFPA 110- Standards for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, and by NFPA 70, better known as NEC.
Highlights of the latest (2019 edition) NFPA 110 will be discussed along with NEC requirements for emergency, legally required, and optional standby systems.
