5th IEEE UP section International Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (UPCON 2018) November 2-4, 2018, MMMUT Gorakhpur (U.P.)

The 5th IEEE UP Section International Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering , ÜPCON-2018” was organized jointly by MMMUT, Gorakhpur and University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan from November 2-4, 2018 in the Campus of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur, sponsored by IEEE UP Section, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, IAS IEEE Industry Applications Society, Uttar Pradesh Council of Science & Technology (UPCST), Lucknow and Cetpa Tech.

The inaugural Session was opened with address by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University and General Chair of the conference Prof. S N Singh. He welcomed the special guest Sri Sitaram Jaiswalji, Mayor of Gorakhpur City, chief guest Prof. P. Nagabhushan, Director IIIT Allahabad, Prof. Tomohisa Wada, Department of Information Engineering, University of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan and other delegates. The delegates, plenary speakers,  Keynote speakers and Session Chairs include:

Total 451 papers and 11 PhD thesis were submitted in the conference by the authors all over the worlds. 40 Foreign Authors from 11 different countries (Australia, Bangladesh, China, Ireland, Japan,  Norway, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand,  UK, USA ) and 787 Indian Authors submitted their papers in UPCON-2018. Among the Indian institutions from where authors submitted their papers includes almost all reputed institutions of India including IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT BHU, IITGandhinagar, IIT Dhanbad, MNNIT Allahabad, IIIT Allahabad, DTU Delhi, NIT Patna, NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Bhopal, NIT Jaipur, NIT Delhi, NIT UK, Aligarh Muslim University and so many. These papers were assigned to 250+ reviewers across the world. 987 reviews were received in total for these 451 papers. 231 registered papers and 11 PhD theses were presented during 33 technical sessions in 6 parallel sessions. There were 3 special sessions including one in Women in Engineering (WIE), one IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) and one Young Professional (YP). In each technical session one paper was awarded the best paper. Three Ph.D. thesis were awarded with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes with citation and cash prize of Rs. 8000/-, Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively.

UPCON-2018 was the biggest ever event organised by MMMUT, Gorakhpur. It became memorable for attendees and delegates after evening cultural program “Phoolon ki holi” performed by specially invited artists from Mathura on first day and “Kavi Sammelan” had been the evening attraction on second day of the event. Valedictory Session was presided over by Vice-Chancellor, Dr. S. N. Singh with gracious presence of IEEE Region 10 Director-elect-2019 Sri Deepak Mathur and Dr. Bhim Singh, Professor & Dean, IIT Delhi, India. Dr Divakar Yadav, Dr Brijesh Kumar and Prof A.N. Tiwari were the organizing chair(s) of this conference. They worked day and night and left no stone unturned to make this event grand success.
