Theme of the workshop:

Topic: Hyperspectral Image analysis and applications

Image analysis of multiple band imagery has been playing a pertinent role in the field of geo-informatics and remote sensing to analyze and explore the planet Earth. The hyperspectral image analysis is more precise and having contemporary techniques to interpret and analyze the images taken by the sensor having contiguous bands, that makes a big advantage over multispectral image sensors. The workshop covered all the grounds of remote sensing commence at EMR spectrum, covering various statistical techniques to process the data to the applications of hyperspectral image analysis in Precision agriculture, atmospheric studies and mining. In addition to that there were a multiple hands-on sessions using python language to process the hyperspectral data and obtain more refined images without losing the original information of the input images.

Biography:

Dr. N. Rama Rao currently working as Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Space Science Technology (IIST) Trivendrum. He received Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, on a topic in hyperspectral remote sensing image processing, in 2006. He received National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, India. Further, he also got Endeavour Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship by the Department of Education Science and Training, Government of Australia. He published more than 40 research articles in reputed Journals/Conferences. He acts as a reviewer for many peer-reviewed International Journals such as International Journal of Remote Sensing, Remote Sensing of Environment, ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Geosciences and Remote Sensing etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and currently serving as Vice-chairman of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (Kerala chapter)
