Alabama Section Meeting
For the September meeting, Alabama Section has invited Scott Bishop, Southern Company, to guide a tour of the Alabama Power Technology Applications Center (TAC). Participants will see an overview of the center including technology capabilities and examples of projects.
The event will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019, at the General Services Complex: 7 Leah Lane, Calera, AL 35040, Bldg 7B (TAC).
The TAC is located at the General Services Complex across from the Shelby County Airport. Traveling from Birmingham you would take I-65 South to exit 234. For GPS directions use the following address: 7 Leah Lane, Calera, AL 35040. This will get you to the entrance to the facility. For Company employees, please have your ID badge to access the facility. All others need to have submitted their name to me by Sept 4 so I can provide it to the guard. The TAC is located at Bldg 7B on the complex. Once you pass through the gate, turn right and the building is around on the left past the Bldg 7 sign.
All attendees are required to register for the meeting on vTools by no later than 8:00 am September 9, 2019 so we can provide a list to security for their entry to the Complex.

For the September meeting, Alabama Section has invited Scott Bishop, Southern Company, to guide a tour of the Alabama Power Technology Applications Center (TAC). Participants will see an overview of the center including technology capabilities and examples of projects.
Biography:
Scott E. Bishop, P.E., CEM, is Team Leader for Alabama Power Company, a Southern Company. He joined Southern Company is 1998 and is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering. He started his career with Southern Company Services in the Research and Environmental Affairs department focusing on customer end-use technologies such as power quality and distributed generation technologies. Later he worked in Generation Planning and moved to his current role with Alabama Power Company in 2007. He is a Team Leader at Alabama Power’s Technology Applications Center (TAC) helping industrial and large commercial customers with process improvements, energy efficiency and heat recovery opportunities.
