Artificial intelligence as a service.

IBM Cloud is a collection of services "in the cloud", which are accessed via HTTP REST APIs. IBM Watson is a subset of those APIs, devoted to artificial intelligence techniques, such as machine learning and deep learning, which are intended to provide features of artificial intelligence to pre existent applications. On-premise and cloud systems can access all these functions via regular HTTTP requests, which eases programming and manteinance. The final aim of IBM Cloud, and especially IBM Watson, is to pave the way to fullfill the needs of the so-called "Cognitive enterprise", a kind of company that considers the knowledge as its major asset. In this webinar, we will cover main concepts and capabilities of IBM Watson.

Please note that this webinar will be delivered in Spanish language.

Carlos Perez Carlos Perez of IEEE CIS Argentina Chapter

Topic:

IBM Watson.

Biography:

Carlos holds a degree in Electromechanical Engineering from National Techological University (UTN) Resistencia Regional Faculty (FRRE). He obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies from the University of Malaga in 2009, in the field of information systems and artificial intelligence. Since 27 years, is a professor at the UTN Regional Faculty Resistencia. He taught subjects in Systems Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, such as «Central and Distribution Networks», «Database Design», «Database Administration», «Client / Server Application Development» , «Instrumentation and Control» and today is in charge of «Automation and Industrial Control», «Control Theory» and «Business Intelligence and decision support systems». In 2002, his project, «Ubiquitous computing, mobile devices in an anaesthesiologist's daily life», was supported by Microsoft Research, the first time in LATAM. In the private sector, he's in the business since 1994 with "Logica10" , a self-managed company to software development. He was an advisory director in Microsoft Users Group of Argentina (MUG), where he delivered more than 70 talks, seminars, courses and workshops, throughout all Argentina. From 2004 to 2011 he was appointed as Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) in mobile computing applications development. He is also a founding member of the Polo IT Chaco (an IT cluster), and he served as first President (2006-2008). He was a member of the CFESSI, Federal Council of Software and Computer Services Entities, where he held a pro-tempore presidency. Carlos was member of CESSI Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010 (CESSI is the chamber of Software Companies in Argentina). He founded the GIANTIC development group at UTN in 2001, and since 2002 he also leads the SICyT -Information System for Science and Technology- at UTN's Rectorate (Buenos Aires). He's a fulltime researcher and member of the advisory board of CINAPTIC, Center for Applied Research in New Information and Communications Technologies, recently founded at UTN FRRE. His areas of interest are mobile computing technologies applied to artificial intelligence, and construction of low-cost intelligent systems to solve problems in the regional industry.
