The PES and IAS Chapters will sponsor a technical seminar on the topic of High Resistance Grounding and Arc Flash Mitigation techniques. This seminar will also cover possible changes expected in the NFPA 70E 2015 Edition with emphasis on safety by design. The session will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at PSE&G’s Hadley Road Facility, 4000 Hadley Road, South Plainfield, NJ 07080-1192.

The seminar will cover the maximizing of safety and reliability with High Resistance Grounding, Arc Flash Mitigation techniques and discussion of upcoming possible NFPA 70E changes including:

Daleep Mohla of DCM Electrical Consulting Services Inc./I-Gard Corporation

High Resistance Grounding, Arc Flash Mitigation Techniques and possible NFPA 70E Changes in the 2015 Edition

Biography: Daleep Mohla is the principal consultant of DCM Electrical Consulting Services Inc. and received a BSEE degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology. Mohla has worked for industry giants such as Union Carbide and Dow Chemical. He is a long time member of the National Electric Code panel five and is a key member of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace Technical Committee. Mohla is a champion of Electrical Safety by Design and has presented multiple papers and tutorials on this subject. In 2007 Daleep was awarded the coveted David Azbill award in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the Petroleum and Chemical Industry. He was a member of the IEEE­ Standards Association Standards Board from 1999-2006 and is currently the secretary of P1584 Working Group on guidelines for performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations.

Biography: Sergio Panetta is the Vice President of Engineering at 1-Gard Corporation, a position he has proudly held for over 16 years. With over 26 years of electrical engineering experience, both in switchgear design, commissioning and troubleshooting, Sergio continues to actively increase awareness on Electrical Safety on a global front. A senior member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, he was recently awarded Consulting Engineering status with the APEO professional body.
In addition to working on a number of industry working groups dealing with electrical safety and best practices including UL, IEC, CSA and IEEE, Sergio is the author and owner of several US Patents related to power resistors. He received his Masters of Electrical Engineering from McMaster University.

The seminar fee includes lunch, refreshments and handouts. Non-members joining IEEE within 30 days of the seminar will be rebated 50% of the IEEE registration charge.

Four hours of instruction will be provided. If desired, IEEE Continuing Education Units (0.4 CEUs) will be offered for this course - a small fee of $45 will be required for processing.
