One Week Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Emerging Research Trends in CS & IT”
The FDP began with the Inaugural Session on 25th June, 2020. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, welcomed all the members and discussed the background note of conducting this FDP. Prof. Prerna Gaur, Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, was the Guest of Honour and highlighted the activities of the IEEE Delhi Section. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session was Prof. R. K. Shevgaonkar, Vice Chancellor, Benett University, Greater Noida, also Former Director, IIT Delhi and Former Vice Chancellor, Pune University, Pune. He delivered his Inaugural Address on Digital Transformation in Higher Education, in which he has highlighted the major technological shift in the entire education system.
There were 10 interesting and knowledge imparting sessions in this FDP. How to be Happy in Difficult Times by Dr. Shankar Goenka, Project based Learning and Higher Order Thinking Skills by Dr. P. S. Grover, Machine Learning with Python by Mr. Ravi Kant, Deep Learning with Python by Mr. Ravi Kant, Awareness of IPR and Patent Filing by Mr. Awab Habib Fakih, Technology Transformation from Academia to Industry by Mr. Gaurav Arora and Ms. Baishakhi Banerjee, IoT and Cloud Computing Enabled VANETs by Dr. R. S. Rao, and Exploring Remix to Implement Smart Contract by Dr. Mayank Agarwal, G. K. V. Haridwar.
The FDP was aimed to provide an open exchange of ideas that gave all the participants an opportunity to learn about emerging trends in research and benefitted their academic career growth. The FDP observed active participation from various research scholars and faculties with positive outcomes. There were 91 participants from all over the world, including participants from ABES College of Engg., Ghaziabad, BIT Meesra, Annamalai University, National P. G. College, Lucknow, SD Bansal College, Indore, Shri Shankaracharya Technical Campus, Bhilai, Pune University, iNurture Bangalore, Trinity College, Delhi, Amity University, UP, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, DY Patil International University, Pune to name a few along with International participants from Saudi Arabia.
Last day of the FDP witnessed Valedictory Session. Prof. M. N. Hoda highlighted the pressing need of such FDPs amidst COVID-19 Pandemic. He shared his experiences on this FDP and thanked all the speakers for conducting interactive sessions and overall making it a successful event with fruitful outcomes. Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Noted Academician, Chairman, NBA, New Delhi and Former Founder Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University, New Delhi, was the Chief Guest. He expressed his appreciation on the success of FDP covering a wide variety of topics and active participation of all the participants. Dr. A. Murali M. Rao, Chairman, IEEE Computer Society, Delhi Section, also appreciated the way this online FDP was conducted and congratulated all the participants and BVICAM team for its success. Mr. R. K. Vyas, President, CSI, also witnessed the valedictory session. The entire FDP was coordinated by Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, Mr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor and Mr. Uttam Singh, Assistant Professor, BVICAM. All the participants were awarded with certificates of participation. Dr. Vishal Jain expressed his vote of thanks to all the attendees for making this event a huge success.
