Short bio:  Recibió el grado de Ingeniero Electricista en 1990 de la Universidad de la República UDELAR, el grado de Magister en Ingeniería Eléctrica en 2000 y el grado de Doctor en Ingeniería Eléctrica en 2003. Desde 1986 es docente en el Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica de la Universidad de la República, Uruguay siendo en la actualidad Profesor Titular (Gr 5) y desde el año 2005 hasta 2010 se desempeñó en régimen de Dedicación Total. De 2004 a 2007 fue Jefe del Departamento de Potencia del Instituto de Ingeniería Eléctrica y de 2007 a 2010 se desempeñó como Director del referido Instituto. A lo largo de su actividad académica y profesional ha participado en 76 trabajos técnicos publicados. Desde el año 2006 a 2014 fue miembro del Consejo de la Facultad de Ingeniería. Desde 1988 a 2001 trabajó profesionalmente en el campo de la fabricación de convertidores de electrónica de potencia y en la automatización industrial. Desde mayo de 2010 a marzo de 2020 ocupó el cargo de Presidente del Directorio de la Administración Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Eléctricas (UTE).

Eng: He received the degree of Electrical Engineer in 1990, the Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2000 and the Doctor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2003, from the University of the Republic of Uruguay. Since 1986 he is a professor at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the University of the Republic, Uruguay, and he is currently a Full Professor (Gr 5) and from 2005 to 2010 he worked under the Full Dedication regime. From 2004 to 2007 he was Head of the Power Department of the Institute of Electrical Engineering and from 2007 to 2010 he served as Director of the aforementioned Institute. Throughout his academic and professional activity he has participated in 76 published technical works. From 2006 to 2014 he was a member of the Council of the Faculty of Engineering. From 1988 to 2001 he worked professionally in the field of power electronics converter manufacturing and industrial automation. From May 2010 to March 2020, he held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electrical Utility (UTE).
