PES Webinar: Transmission Planning Part 2: Solution Development, Special Studies, and Industry Trends
This presentation is a continuation of the Transmission Planning Fundamentals talk given in October 2020 to the Columbus IEEE PES Chapter. A quick refresher will be given on basic Planning topics, including the transmission power flow model and contingency analysis. Then additional details will be shared on large-scale system analysis, project development, and the various PJM Planning processes. Time will also be devoted to new developments in the industry, including the emergence of renewable energy sources.

Jerod Marker
Biography:
Jerod Marker is a Principal Engineer in the Transmission Planning department at American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio, where he is responsible for long-term planning of the high voltage transmission grid. Prior to joining AEP, he worked at FirstEnergy in Akron, Ohio, with time spent in Transmission Planning and rotational assignments in various transmission & distribution departments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, with a Math minor, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a University Honors Scholar. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio and an IEEE Senior Member. From 2017-18 Jerod was the Chair of the IEEE Columbus PES Chapter, during which time the Chapter was awarded Runner-up as a global PES Outstanding Chapter.
