Fiber Optical Amplifiers and Fiber Lasers in the Near Infrared: Research, Development, and Manufacturing at Cybel LLC
This talk will introduce and then survey the fascinating and rapidly evolving field of fiber optical amplifiers and fiber lasers in the near-infrared region of the spectrum. After an introduction to the basic optical physics and engineering of fiber optical amplifiers and lasers, current topics of research and development interest will be presented with examples of products now in development and manufacture at Cybel’s Bethlehem, PA R&D headquarters. Applications to fields as diverse as spectroscopy, spectral sensing, LIDAR, atom cooling and quantum computing, gravitational wave detection, and current lightwave telecommunications systems will be outlined.
