So You Want to Build and Fly an Airplane?
The May Section Meeting will feature something a little different. Have you ever dreamed about building an airplane?
Join with Greg Long as he takes you on his journey of dreaming, building and flying an airplane. There were many dreams, many doubts, many unknowns but finally success. You’ll learn the “ins” and “outs” of building his Van’s RV-12 aircraft plus its certification, flying and testing.
The presentation will be at the Ankeny Airport. Take SE Oralabor Road east off of I-35 to the first stoplight (SE Convenience Blvd.) Turn right (south) and follow the road all the way around past Casey’s headquarters to the airport. You will see the airport beacon on a tower and parking on your left. There is additional parking right of the beacon if needed. Come into the Exec 1 Aviation front lobby through the glass doors and tell them you are there for Greg Long’s airplane presentation. There is no security check at this airport. You will walk through a door that says “Conference Room” and up a flight of stairs to the meeting room. Be advised: there is no elevator or lift for these stairs.
The plane will be available for viewing.

Biography:
Greg Long is a retired electrical engineer and Life Senior IEEE member. He has held several Central Iowa Section officer positions over the years. He received his Private Pilot Certificate in April 1986 and has been a member of three different flying clubs in central Iowa and flown several different makes of airplanes. He now owns and flies his Van’s RV-12 two seat airplane based at the Ankeny airport.
