Cracking the Code: A Guide to Mitacs Globalink Research Internship for Prospective Applicants
IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS), in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch, ZHCET, organized an interactive session on "Cracking the Code: A Guide to Mitacs Globalink Research Internship for Prospective Applicants" on Thursday, 4th May, 2023. The session was held at the Training Placement Office (TPO), ZHCET Auditorium and was hosted by the Vice-chairperson of IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS), Mohammad Zain (Final year Electronics Engg).
The session began with Mohammad Zain introducing the attendees to MITACS and its benefits for prospective interns. The discussion then moved on to the MITACS Globalink Research Internship, where the panelists shared their experiences of cracking the internship. The panelists were Yusuf Ahmed Khan (3rd Year Electronics Engineering), Sarim Khan (3rd Year Electronics Engineering), Yash Pratap Singh (3rd Year Electronics Engineering), and Syed Mikayel (3rd Year Electrical Engineering), all of whom were awardees of the internship program.
Yusuf started by introducing the panelists and explaining what is MITACS and the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship program. Sarim discussed the eligibility criteria, benefits of the program, and application timeline. Yash shared tips to get selected in the program, and Mikael discussed the required documents and other international and national research internships.
The panelists shared their journey of applying for the internship and the challenges they faced along the way. They also gave valuable tips to the juniors on how to make an effective CV that can increase their chances of cracking such internships, factors such as CGPA, Internship experiences, research experiences, and volunteering experiences were discussed. They discussed the importance of relevant experience, skills, and interests in the selection process and advised the attendees to focus on these aspects while preparing their CVs.
Towards the end of the session, an interaction was conducted for the attendees to ask their queries regarding the internship. The panelists answered the queries politely and provided valuable insights into the interview process and related things concerning the internship.
Overall, the session was informative and helpful for the students who were interested in the MITACS Globalink Research Internship.
The experiences shared by the panelists provided the students with a better understanding of the selection process and the skills required to succeed in the internship program. The event was successful in achieving its objective of guiding and mentoring prospective applicants of the internship program.
