The 1st IEEE International Conference on Microwave, Antenna and Communication”- MAC 2023 will be held in Offline/Hybrid mode at MNNIT Allahabad in Sangam city- Prayagraj, U.P., India, during March 24-26, 2023. The conference aims to offer a platform for researchers, academicians and individuals in the industry and startups to showcase their research innovations, knowledge and vision. MAC 2023 will include focused track on Young Professionals, Women in Engineering and SIGHT along with technical sessions on recent developments. The technical sessions will have four tracks covering recent and emerging research topics in the fields of Microwave, Antenna and Communication. Every track will have the following events- a) Paper presentations and best paper awards b) Key Note Lectures c) Special Sessions d) Panel Discussions and e) Technical/Industrial Workshops.

Dr. C. J. REDDY

Topic:

Career Development and Role of Electromagnetic Simulations in Product Design

Biography:

 Dr. C.J. Reddy is Vice President, Business Development-Electromagnetics for Americas at Altair

Engineering, Inc. Dr. Reddy received his B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

from Regional Engineering College, Warangal, India, M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He worked as Scientific Office at SAMEER (Society for

Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research), Mumbai during 1987-1991. Dr. Reddy was awarded the

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada Visiting Fellowship to work at

Communications Research Center in Ottawa during 1991-1993 and was awarded the US National Research

Council (NRC) Resident Research Associateship in 1993 to work at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton,

Virginia. He also worked as Research Professor at Hampton University from 1995 to 2000. Dr. Reddy was the

President of Applied EM, Inc (2000-2017) where he led several Phase I and Phase II SBIR projects for the DoD

and NASA. He was also the President of EM Software & Systems (USA) Inc (2002-2014) and led the marketing of the EM Simulation

tool, Feko in North America. EM Software & Systems (USA) Inc was acquired by Altair in 2014.

Dr. Reddy is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of ACES (Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society) and a Fellow of AMTA (Antenna

Measurement Techniques Association). Dr. Reddy served on ACES Board of Directors from 2006 to 2012 and again from 2015 to

  1. Dr. Reddy was awarded Distinguished Alumni Professional Achievement Award by his alma mater, National Institute of

Technology (NIT), Warangal, India in 2015. Dr. Reddy is a co-author of the book, “Antenna Analysis and Design Using FEKO

Electromagnetic Simulation Software,” published in June 2014 by SciTech Publishing (now part of IET). Dr. Reddy is serving as an

Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of Antennas of Propagation and IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. He is

appointed by IEEE Board of Directors to the position of IEEE Fellow Committee Member for the terms 2020-2021 and 2022-2023.

He also serves as the Chair of IEEE AP-S Young Professionals Committee. Dr. Reddy is elected as a member of AMTA Board of

Directors for a three-year term starting Jan 2020 and served as the Technical Coordinator for AMTA 2020 and AMTA 2021

Conferences and served as the President of AMTA in 2022. Dr. Reddy is also elected to serve as a member of the IEEE AP-S

Administrative Committee (AdCom) for the term 2023-2025.

Mr. Tapan Misra

Deep Tech Start-up and the need for Innovation Environment

Biography:

Shri Tapan Misra (DSc, Hon.), was the former Director of two of ISRO’s most prestigious centres of ISRO, the Space Applications Centre (SAC) and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). He is acknowledged as a global expert in Imaging Radar SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and is considered the father of the RISAT series of radar imaging satellites, which are the backbone of India’s many tactical, strategic and civilian applications.

He built L and S band imaging radar for Chandrayaan-2. He is the lead designer of NASA ISRO dual-frequency SAR (NISAR) which is going to be launched by 2022. This spaceborne radar will enable global mapping of earth surface deformations (of even 1-2 millimetres) at an interval of 8 days.

Dr. Veer Singh Gangwar

Latest Trends in Active Phased Array Antenna Technology for Radar Applications

Biography:

 Dr. V. S. Gangwar obtained his Ph.D. in RF & Microwave from Department of Electronics Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-BHU), Varanasi, India.

He joined LRDE (DRDO) Bangalore in 2005 as a scientist-B and started his carrier in

the field of design, development and characterization of antenna systems for various radar

applications. Currently, he is holding the post of Scientist ‘F’ in Radar Antenna and

Microwave Division (RAMD) of LRDE and leading a team involved in the design,

development, realization and characterization of active phased array antenna systems for

Battery Multi-Function Radar (BMFR) for Qucick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM)

Weapon System for Indian Army, Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-

SRSAM) for Indian Navy, Digital Active Phased Array (DAPA) Radar and State-of-the-art

panel/tiled based active phased array technology.

He was deputed to embassy of India Israel, during July-Dec 2009 and Feb 2012, to

participate with radar development team at M/s IAI ELTA, ISRAEL for evaluation and

calibration of Multi-Function Surveillance and Tracking Radar (MFSTAR) for Long Range

Surface to Air Missile (LRSAM) program jointly developed for Indian Navy.

Dr. Gangwar is a member of various professional bodies and societies including Senior

Member IEEE USA, Fellow IETE India, Fellow Antenna Test and Measurement Society

(ATMS) India, Sr. Member IEEE MTT society, and Sr. Member IEEE AP society.

In addition to his project development activities, Dr. Gangwar is also involve in

academic research, where he has guided about 45 B.Tech and M.Tech. dissertation projects,

authored/co-authored over 50 research papers in international/ national journals/conference

proceedings and delivered several invited talk at various IITs, NITs and other institutes.

For his significant contributions in the field of radar antenna, Dr. Gangwar has

configured DRDO Technology Group Award for the years 2008, 2016, and 2018, DRDO

Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance for the year 2010, SGI Distinguished Alumni

Award for the year 2014 and DRDO Path breaking Research/Outstanding Technology

Development Award for the year 2017. Also a patent is granted to him in the year 2020.

Dr. R. K. Bhardwaj

Micro and nano fabrication of THz wave guide components.

Biography:

He is working as Scientist: F at Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Dehradun Uttrakhand.

He joined DRDO as Scientist B in 1997, since then he is working in Design and Development of microwave and mm-Wave components ranging from X, L,S, Ku,Ka and W band. He is recepant of Padamshee M M Suri Project award at IIT Delhi in 2006, National Science Day oration and Gold medal in 2007, Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance of Defence Technology in 2011 and National Technology Day Oration and Titanium Medal in 2015. He has published 27 technical papers in Journals and conferences. His Area of Specialization is Production Engineering, CAD/CAM, Composite materials, Precision Engineering, Micro and nano manufacturing.

Biography:

M Jaleel Akhtar (Senior Member, IEEE) is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Kanpur, India. He has authored or coauthored more than 250 research articles, two books, four book chapters, and three patents. His research interests include RF sensors, NDT, microwave and THz imaging, RF energy harvesting, high frequency plasmonic, EMI/EMC, and microwave absorbers.,He is currently the Faculty Advisor with IEEE MTT-S SBC, IIT Kanpur.

Prof. Sébastien Roy

Biography:

Pr Sebastien Roy (M’00) received the B.Sc.A. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical   engineering from Université Laval, Québec, QC, Canada, in 1991 and 1993, respectively, and the Ph. D. degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada in 2000.  From 2000 to 2002, he was a National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Laval. In 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2018, he was invited professor with École Nationale Supérieure de Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie (ENSSAT), Lannion, France. In 2015, he was invited professor with Institut National de Sciences Appliquées (INSA), Rennes, France. From 2002 to 2012, he was sucessively Assistant, Associate (from 2005), and Full Professor (from 2010) digital intelligence, signal processing, advanced wireless communications, and cybersecurity. He at Université Laval. In 2012, he joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Université de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, QC, where he is currently Full Professor, was Department Chair from 2016 to 2017, and where he is working on system-oriented and implementation aspects of is co-founder and co-leader of Université de Sherbrooke’s Center of Excellence in Integrated Intelligent Systems (CESIIUS). He is also a co-founder of the Digital Distributed Intelligence Network (D2IN), a multi-university consortium currently being established in Quebec with funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.

Dr. Debdeep Sarkar

Antennas for Full-Duplex and MIMO Systems to Space-Time Metamaterials: An Applied Electromagnetic Perspective

Biography:

Dr. Debdeep Sarkar obtained his B.E. in ETCE from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2011, and

his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (EE) with specialization in RF & Microwaves, from

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He has worked as Visiting

Researcher and Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,

Royal Military College, Canada, respectively during May 2017-Aug 2017 and Nov 2018-Feb 2020.

After that, he briefly served as Assistant Professor in Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT

Ropar, from March-July 2020. Since August 2020, Dr. Sarkar is an Assistant Professor in Department

of Electrical Communication Engineering (ECE), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. 

He has 1 book, 1 book chapter, 3 filed Indian patents, 45 peer-reviewed Journals and 100+ conference

papers to his credit. He is an active reviewer in multiple prestigious IEEE Transactions and Letters,

and Associate Editor in IET MAP and IEEE Access. Dr. Sarkar has received URSI Young Scientist

Award twice (APRASC-2019 and GASS-2020), Infosys Young Investigator award (2020-2022),

Outstanding YP (Young Professional) Volunteer Award, 2021 from IEEE Bangalore Section, IETE

Sri C Viswanatha Reddy Memorial Award, 2022, and many other best-paper awards. He is currently a

member of the IEEE AP-S Global YP Committee.
