The features of 5G currently being developed by the 3GPP standards body needs more in-depth understanding by researchers and industry practioners.  This session is designed to encourage round table discussion of the current roll out by the Carriers and what is on the table to be rolled out in 2023-24 time frame.  Please come and join in the discussion.

Round Table Discussion on 5G technology.

Biography:

Scott Atkinson is the current Chair of the IEEE Communications and Signal Processing Chapter in the Lone Star Section.  He received his Batchlor of Science Degree in Physics/Math/Chemistry at then Texas A & I University  (now Texas A & M Kingsville).  After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served 22 active years as a Communications Officer.  Additional positions included (1) Communications Engineer for the Lockheed Electronics Company supporting the testing of the Apollo Communications Sub-System at NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, (2) Communications Engineer &Networks Manager at Tenneco Inc (and earning an MBA degree there from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.  His last corporate position was as a Senior Technical Support Specialist at USAA in San Antonio.  Subsequest to his carrer in corporate American he organized and operated a Consulting Practive for 6 years before retiring and becoming a full time volunteer for the IEEE; he served as a Chapter Chair, North American Region Director, Member At Large ComSoc Board of Governors, Conference Executive Chair for GlobeCom's 2001 and 2014 and 20 years in ComSoc Conference planning activities.  His current technology focus is 5G, cell phones and Space Communications.
