This year's theme is "๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ" to encourage the presentation of novel ideas and research on sustainable solutions for a better future.
This event is going to be jointly organised by IEEE AUST Student Branch & IEEE Power & Energy Society AUST SB Chapter.
The electric vehicle drivetrain offers newfound flexibility for electric vehicle designs and architectures, while leading to new challenges in terms of meeting all requirements. Since electric vehicles have an electric motor and a battery, and their Battery management system manages a rechargeable battery to ensure it operates safely and efficiently.
Battery Management System is designed to monitor the parameters associated with the battery pack and its individual cells, apply the collected data to eliminate safety risks and optimise the battery performance. The primary functions of the Battery Management system for an EV battery is Safety, Performance Optimization, Health Monitoring and Diagnostics ,Communication. Due to global warming and fast depletion of fossil fuels, the option of battery-operated electric vehicles (EVs) has emerged as one of the most popular alternatives for sustainable transport. The lithium-ion battery is a major component of electric vehicles. Many challenges for sustainability of electric vehicle battery supply chains have been extracted through literature review and discussions with industry experts. These challenges may be categorised as operational, technological, economic, environmental and social.
The session will include a brief discussion on battery management systems for electric vehicles in the developing world and brief advice for aspiring students who wish to conduct research.
