The Seattle Chapter of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferrroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-S) aims to provide UFFC-S members with opportunities for professional and personal growth as well as network with the local, vibrant UFFC community.

This special event includes a visit from Professor Alfred Yu, PhD our Editor-in-Chief of the Transactions on UFFC and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Yu will share updates on our Transactions on UFFC, including a new Industry Perspective Series. Dr. Kendall Waters (UFFC Seattle Chapter Chair and Industry Perspectives organizer) will join Dr. Yu for this part of the event.

Dr. Yu will also provide a Tech Talk on "Can We Do That in Cardiovascular Ultrasound?"

This meeting will be at the University of Washington in Seattle. The meeting will be hybrid. Please register so that organizers can plan accordingly. Online meeting details are included below.

Updates on the Transactions on UFFC + Recent Progress of the Laboratory on Innovative Technology in Medical Ultrasound

Biography:

Professor Alfred Yu has a long-standing research interest in ultrasound imaging and therapeutics. He is a Professor at the University of Waterloo (ECE and Applied Math) and is the Director of NSERC CREATE Program on Next-Generation Innovations in Ultrasonics (N-GENIUS). He is an NSERC Steacie Fellow and an AIUM Fellow. His research is recognized by various prestigious prizes, including the IEEE Ultrasonics Early Career Investigator Award, the Frederic Lizzi Award, and the Ontario Early Researcher Award. He is now the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, & Frequency Control, the Program Chair of 2023 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, and the Secretary of AIUM Basic Science & Instrumentation Community. He has also previously chaired the Medical Ultrasound Group of the IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium and ISTU Education Committee, and has served as an Associate Editor of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.

Updates on the Transactions on UFFC

Biography:

Kendall has been a volunteer with the IEEE UFFC-S for many years. He is currently the Interim Chair of the IEEE UFFC Seattle Chapter. 

Kendall is the VP of Ultrasound R&D at Enlight Medical, a medical device start-up. His professional experience has been focused on ultrasound medical devices, particularly ultrasound imaging catheters.   

Kendall received my PhD in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis.  He also held post-doctoral research positions at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) of France.
