In day to day language, Consciousness implies awareness. When I say I am conscious of this, it means, I am aware of this. But spiritually, Consciousness is not only awareness but something more. In words of  Sri  Aurobindo,  ‘Consciousness is a fundamental thing in existence ---it is the energy, the motion, the movement of Consciousness that creates the universe and all that is in it--- not only the macrocosm  but the microcosm is nothing but the Consciousness arranging itself.  It is there even when it is not active on the surface. It can determine its own reactions or abstain from reactions.

Biography:

Dr. Hans Chaudhry is a Research professor in Biomedical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A.  Before coming to NJIT in 1992, he was Chair and Professor of Applied Sciences at Punjab Engineering College  (PEC), Punjab University, Chandigarh , India. He got his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Indian Institute of technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India in 1967.  He has published more than eighty research papers in Biomechanics in International Journals of repute and guided research to students in India and at NJIT.

His primary interest is Spirituality and to investigate the truth and purpose of life. He has published a number of articles on Consciousness.  In addition, he has established a God’s Home for rehabilitating and imparting formal education to parentless children in India since more than a decade. Before that he worked for rehabilitating leprosy patients in Chandigarh, India.
