Colin J Cumming

Entrepreneur and inventor Colin J. Cumming of Stillwater is a founding principal of TechVen Partners LLC, a technology cultivation and investment company. Mr. Cumming serves as CEO for SensiQ Technologies a bioinstrumentation company focused on drug discovery and biotechnology markets. He also serves as a Board Member for High Desert Discovery District (HD3) an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to technology development in New Mexico, and on the Oklahoma State Governors Science and Technology Council. He serves on the boards of RingIR and Heavy Oil Solutions. He will talk abouit his career as an EE and discuss engineering & technology as career path  as a future in Oklahoma.

Mr. Cumming serves as CEO for SensiQ Technologies a bioinstrumentation company focused on drug discovery and biotechnology markets. He also serves as a Board Member for High Desert Discovery District (HD3) an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to technology development in New Mexico, and on the Oklahoma State Governors Science and Technology Council. He serves on the boards of RingIR and Heavy Oil Solutions.

Prior to forming TechVen Partners, Mr. Cumming served as CEO and President of ICx Technologies Inc., a publicly traded Security and Defense firm. Before assuming that role, Mr. Cumming served as President of the ICx Detection Division and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Cumming played a lead role in the formation of ICx Technologies through the merger of 18 leading high technology companies in such areas as molecular wire sensors, enzyme based sensing, gamma spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and molecular biology. Following an IPO in 2007, Mr. Cumming oversaw the sale of the company to FLIR Systems, Inc. in 2010.

Prior to ICx Technologies, Mr. Cumming founded in 1994 and served as CEO of Nomadics, Inc. Nomadics operated as technology development company employing the Technology Cultivation Engine model developed by Mr. Cumming. This model is focused on commercializing technology originating in university and government labs as well as organically. While developing technology in the fields of advanced sensing, nanomaterials, optics and biosensing, Nomadics successfully commercialized a number of products including developing the worlds leading explosive detection device. Several successful spinouts were executed, and successful technologies were licensed or sold. Ultimately, Nomadics merged with a number of other leading detection and security companies to form ICx Technologies.

Mr. Cumming holds BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Mr. Cumming has been awarded 5 patents and has written numerous publications including peer reviewed papers and book chapters in the area of detection and sensing.
