PES Seminar: Theoretical Aspects of Control and Modeling of Synchronous Machines
The presentation will review some concepts related to synchronous machine modeling and control. DQ axis theory, rotor and stator differential equations and their effect on transient stability studies will be discussed. Synchronous machine models in typical power system softwares like PSSE, PSLF, Powerworld will be discussed. Models such as GENROU, GENSAL, GENTPJ/F will be discussed briefly. The presentation is geared towards power system experts in the industry who would like to review some of these concepts and appreciate the controls and mathematical modeling nuances. The presentation might also be helpful for graduate students pursuing research in academia to understand these modeling approaches which they might use later to better understand renewable machines modeling.
