PES/IAS: Drives and Harmonics
Meeting of the Philadelphia Joint chapter IEEE Power & Energy and Industry Applications Societies
This harmonics and system design presentation will review harmonics basics, sources and concerns. Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) harmonic contributions are significant and must be recognized and accounted for in power systems. These harmonics, and mitigation techniques, will be discussed in this presentation. The 2014 issue of IEEE 519, IEEE Recommended Practice and Requirements for Harmonic Control in Electric Power Systems has noticeable changes from the previous version. This presentation will discuss some of the most impactful changes.
