Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid-State Devices (SSD) are the storage work horses in today’s data world. At Western Digital Corporation, we are in the unique position to have in-depth insights into reliability assurance methods for both technologies.  We will discuss interesting commonalities, differences, and opportunities, with focus on Data Center and Enterprise devices.

Bernhard Hiller of Western Digital Corporation, San Jose, CA

Biography:

Bernhard Hiller manages the Advanced Reliability Engineering team at Western Digital Corporation, a leading supplier of hard-drive and flash storage products. Our team’s mission is to continuously improve reliability assurance methods for all our products. Previous career stops were IBM, Siemens Medical, and Maxtor. Bernhard Hiller holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford. He chaired the IEEE SCV Reliability Chapter in the past and currently acts as webmaster.
