UNDERSTANDING ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE CONSIDERING CHANGES IN THE NFPA70B-2013 STANDARD

Abstract: With the 2023 revision of NFPA 70B-2023 “Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance” from a recommended practice to a standard, there is a need for examples and best practices on how to evaluate equipment maintenance programs to the new NFPA 70B requirements. Processes for evaluating both new and existing equipment should be done in a pragmatic and unbiased approach. This presentation with review revisions to the standard contrasted with maintenance recommendations by electrical equipment manufacturers, followed by methods to evaluate existing equipment condition and necessary maintenance of existing low-voltage substations installed at a U.S. based chemical plant.

Presenter: Scott Brady, PE, National Manager, Application Support, Eaton Engineering Services & Systems
