Topic:

Smart Technology Implementation in Washington D.C

Navigating the Path to a Connected Capital City Information technologies have great potential to improve daily life. How technologies and engineers design and implement these technologies influence adoption. Smart technologies are well-positioned to make substantive improvements in daily life globally. There are lessons for those advocating for these technologies to learn from cities implementing them throughout their jurisdictions. This talk will provide an overview for stakeholders about how cities can put people at the center of smart technology implementation. It provides a specific overview of some of the smart technologies implemented in Washington D.C. Additionally, it provides implications for future smart technology deployments.

Smart Cities Washington DC - Smart Transportation

Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) is a crucial service enabled by 5G and emerging 6G/next generation wireless technology, requiring efficient management of both communication and computation tasks to enhance user experience. We demonstrate a comprehensive analytical as well as algorithmic model for offloading these tasks to Road-Side Units (RSUs) and base stations (gNB) depending upon date rates and traffic scenario. Unlike previous studies that have primarily focused on communication offloading, this model also incorporates computation offloading to minimize average packet delay. We propose optimization of offloading probability through a sub-gradient based algorithm. Implementing this model in Guwahati, India can significantly contribute to its development as a smart city by optimizing data traffic management, reducing network congestion, and enhancing the efficiency and reliability of wireless communications within the city. A case study involving different traffic scenarios and the corresponding offloading recommendations as prescribed by the model in the context of Guwahati city in India is also presented.

DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF A COMPUTATION AND COMMUNICATION OFFLOADING MODEL FOR V2X 5G AND NEXT GEN NETWORKS : COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS WITH PREVIOUS METHODS, BENCHMARKING AND A CASE STUDY IN CONTEXT OF GUWAHATI AS A SMART CITY OF INDIA.
