Europe Celebrates the 75th Anniversary of CASS
To celebrate the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society's (CASS) 75th anniversary, the IEEE UK and Ireland Circuits and Systems Chapter is pleased to invite you to attend an exciting technical/networking event entitled “Circuits and Systems, Industry and Academia: A UK and Ireland Perspective”.
Date: Tuesday 10 December 2024, 14:00 – 17:00
Location: 36-38 Gordon Square, University College London, WC1H 0PD, London.
The event will include two technical talks from industry (details of which are provided below) as well as a presentation by the local IEEE CASS student branch, and ending with a light refreshments/drinks reception to facilitate networking. All are welcome!
We look forward to seeing you!
Best wishes,
Prof. Andreas Demosthenous, IEEE Fellow
Chair, IEEE UK and Ireland Circuits and Systems Chapter

Training Your Environment, Network and Skillset
This talk focuses on prevalent business trends including networking, expanding skillset and mindfulness. From an engineering standpoint, the talk will integrate these concepts with AI and ML. The talk will navigate you on how to train your environment, people in your network and skillset such that your career will also be a biotic, evolving part of your life. The talk will share insights from the speaker’s journey as a woman in CAS who transitioned from academia to industry, gained experience in three different countries, and completed three degrees at separate universities.

Circuit and Systems Design from Academia to Industry, an Engineer’s Challenges
The talk centres around circuits and systems, the challenges in designing a reliable and robust systems that will eventually end up in manufactured products. The talk provides a deep dive from a system perspective which includes, analogue circuits, digital interface, analogue-to-digital converter (ADC), ASICs/FPGA, power regulation noise to printed circuit boards (PCB) schematics and layout with tips and tricks. Hardware and software bugs are also introduced, and how to avoid them from past design experience. Also included are some archive design case studies which highlights the benefits and advantages for a reliable and robust systems, to avoid escalating issues during a project life cycle, such as in development stages, production issues, to field failures and worst-case scenario, product recalls.
