Cryptic Quest

Name of the Event:Cryptic Quest

Event Date: 7 December 2024

Location: CR-9, CR-10,LT-3, LT2 and LT1

Introduction : Cryptic Quest, a tech-based treasure hunt organized by Drishti, SIGHT IEEE JUIT SB in collaboration with SIGHT IEEE Delhi section, aimed to test the technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and teamwork of college students. The event provided an engaging platform where participants competed in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment. Teams consisting of 2-3 members gathered at Lecture Theatre 2 (LT-2) at 1:45 PM, marking the beginning of an exciting two-hour adventure.

 

Game Structure

Starting Point: The hunt began at LT-2, where teams were given their first clue after a briefing on rules and game mechanics.

Paths and Checkpoints: The game featured two paths: a long route and a short route. Both paths led teams through various checkpoints, including classrooms like CR-9, CR-10, and LT-3, as well as the Physics and Bioinformatics Labs.

  • Long Route Highlights:

    • Debugging C programs with logical and syntax errors.

    • Answering tech-themed riddles referencing tech pioneers like Steve Jobs.

    • Navigating through labs and classrooms using coded clues and Morse puzzles.

 

  • Short Route Highlights:

    • Solving algorithmic puzzles and identifying logical patterns.

    • Finding hidden clues based on room numbers and tech-related questions.

Challenges and Activities

  1. Coding Challenges:

    • Participants debugged C programs riddled with logical and syntax errors.

    • Programming questions required quick thinking and problem-solving.

  2. Logic and Riddles:

    • Teams decoded tech-inspired riddles referencing computing concepts and famous tech personalities.

    • Morse code messages added a unique puzzle element.

  3. Real-Time Decision Making:

    • Teams faced elimination if they were among the last to reach a checkpoint or if they shared clues with others.
