Cognitive Radio: Applications in 5G Communication Systems

Cognitive radio is a promising technology to improve the spectrum utilization efficiency, and it adapt dynamically to the outside RF environment by observing the radio scene in real-time and making decisions based on reasoning (facilitated by the learning capability).  Learning engine plays an important role in the system as it introduces intelligence to reduce complexity. In this talk, basic schemes of Cognitive Radio is discussed in the perspwective of the applications in current and later generation communication system.

The forecasting of solar radiation availability is a key tool for managing photovoltaic (PV) plants, especially in a smart grid scenario for the purpose of energy harvesting.

Biography:

Professor Vincenzo Piuri hasreceived his Ph.D. in computer engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy (1989). He has been Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Italy and Visiting Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and at George Mason University, USA. He is Full Professor in computer engineering at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (since 2000).

Biography:

Dr. Ajay K. Poddar graduated from IIT Delhi, and did Doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) from Technical University Berlin, Germany, Post Doctorate (Dr.-Ing. habil) from Brandenburg Institute of Technology, Cottbus, Germany.

Dr. Poddar is a professor at Oradea University, Romania.

Dr. Poddar received several awards for his scientific achievements, holds several dozen patents and published over 300 scientific papers in international conferences, and professional journals, contributed as an author/coauthor of 6-technical books.

Dr. Poddar is serving as Academic advisory board member of Don Bosco Institute of Engineering, Bombay, India; Fellow member of IEEE professional society.
