Kyle Rector and Brandon Myers, two new members of the faculty in University of Iowa’s Department of Computer Science, will talk about internships at leading technology firms. Drawing upon their own experience, they will share tips on how to obtain such internships, what to expect in an internship, and how to make the most of these kinds of opportunities.

Kyle Rector
Biography:
Kyle Rector is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Iowa. Before joining the university’s faculty, she completed internships at Google, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, and Microsoft. She earned the PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington. Through her research, she is discovering and developing ways of using technology to improve the lives of people who are blind or have low vision.
Brandon Myers
Biography:
Brandon Myers is a lecturer at the University of Iowa. Before joining the university’s faculty, he completed internships at Amazon and Microsoft. He earned the PhD degree in computer science at the University of Washington. His research is on improving teaching and learning of computer science. Through his prior research on high performance computing and data management, he built systems that ease the programming of applications at the intersection of those domains.
