Damla Turgut

Biography:

Damla Turgut is Charles Millican Professor and Chair of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She is the co-director of the AI Things Laboratory. She held visiting researcher positions at the University of Rome «La Sapienza», Imperial College of London, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Her research interests include wireless ad hoc, sensor, underwater, vehicular, and social networks, edge/cloud computing, smart cities, smart grids, IoT-enabled healthcare and augmented reality, as well as considerations of privacy in the Internet of Things. Dr. Turgut serves on several editorial boards and program committees of prestigious ACM and IEEE journals and conferences. Her most recent honors include the NCWIT 2021 Mentoring Award for Undergraduate Research (MAUR), the UCF Research Incentive Award, and the UCF Women of Distinction Award. Since 2019, she serves as the N2Women Board Co-Chair where she co-leads the activities of the N2Women Board in supporting female researchers in the fields of networking and communications. She is an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer, IEEE Senior Member, ACM Senior Member, the Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Social Networks, and the Chair of the IEEE Technical Community on Computer Communications (TCCC).

Nathaly Orozco

Biography:

Nathaly Verónica Orozco Garzón, Senior Member IEEE desde febrero de 2023, obtuvo su título de Ingeniera en Electrónica y Telecomunicaciones en la Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE), en el año 2011, en Quito – Ecuador. Posteriormente, obtuvo su título de Máster y Doctora en Ingeniería Eléctrica en el Área de Telecomunicaciones y Telemática en la Universidad Estatal de Campinas (UNICAMP) en Campinas – Brasil, en el año 2014 y 2018, respectivamente. Trabajó como analista de gestión del espectro radioeléctrico en la Secretaría Nacional de Telecomunicaciones actualmente (ARCOTEL). Trabajó como investigadora en el Departamento de Comunicaciones de la Universidad Estatal de Campinas (UNICAMP). Actualmente, es docente investigadora de la Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) en la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Aplicadas en la Carrera de Ingeniería en Networking y Telecomunicaciones. Cuenta con varios artículos científicos publicados, en revistas de alto impacto y en Congresos Internacionales. Dentro de sus áreas de interés están las comunicaciones inalámbricas, comunicaciones ópticas, transmisiones oportunistas, redes cooperativas, códigos correctores de errores, técnicas de diversidad, técnicas de acceso múltiple, procesos estocásticos y técnicas de detección multiusuario.

Elizabeth Falconí

Biography:

Ingrid Elizabeth Falconí León es Ingeniera en Electrónica y Telecomunicaciones, graduada en 2019 por la Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas “ESPE”. En 2023, obtuvo su título de Magíster en Tecnologías de la Información, con mención en Redes de Comunicación, en la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.

Inició su carrera profesional como Analista de Gestión de O&M Data Center en la Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT), donde se desempeñó en el área de Networking y Comunicaciones. Actualmente, ocupa el cargo de Líder en la Gestión de Problemas de TI en Banco Pichincha, donde lidera la implementación de soluciones para optimizar los procesos tecnológicos.

A lo largo de su trayectoria, ha destacado por su profundo conocimiento en redes de comunicación, área en la que ha obtenido diversas certificaciones y ha acumulado valiosa experiencia. En la actualidad, se encuentra ampliando su expertise en el ámbito de Tecnologías de la Información, con un enfoque particular en la aplicación de ITIL, con el objetivo de mejorar la eficacia y eficiencia de los procesos tecnológicos en su entorno laboral.

Julia Urbina

Biography:

Julia Urbina is Chair of IEEE ComSoc Guadalajara, Head of Cybersecurity at CyberIIoT LLC, and a Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE Future Networks. She specializes in security architecture, risk analysis, and cybersecurity maturity. Julia began her career researching Intrusion Detection Systems during her Electrical and Communications Engineering studies at UDLAP and continued at the Electronics and Telecommunications Center (CETEC) of TEC de Monterrey, earning recognition as an Honorary Member of IEEE – Eta Kappa Nu (HKN). Julia has made significant contributions to 5G cybersecurity, participating in the IEEE Future Networks’ 5G Security Roadmap, where she influenced the development of cybersecurity recommendations for 3GPP standards (Releases 16 and 17). She has promoted the adoption of IoT security frameworks for private 5G networks through IoTSI LATAM and holds the SCCISP certification. Additionally, she established the School of Cybersecurity Training in Latin America, an authorized center for SCCISP certification. Her expertise extends to policy development, having been appointed Cybersecurity Policy Expert by the Global Foundation for Cybersecurity Studies and Research. Currently, she leads the 5G Cybersecurity Risk Matrix subgroup at Mexico’s Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT), shaping national policies on secure 5G deployment. Julia also serves as a reviewer for the IEEE P2994™ Standard for Security Assessment Framework for IoT and holds leadership roles in ICS4ICS and ISA-GCA.
