Tour of High-tech Enterprises in Optics Valley and Academic Salon
IEEE PES Day 2025 embarks on a global journey with the theme “Clean Energy, Smarter Grids, Better Lives” aligning with Earth Day’s mission to foster a more sustainable planet. One activity will be held at Optic Valley, in Wuhan from April 21 to 22, 2025.
This activity is named as “Tour of High-tech Enterprises in Optics Valley and Academic Salon” and organized by IEEE PCCC Women in Power Committee (IEEE PCCC WIP), which is an important branch of IEEE PES WIP and supports the professional development, networking, and education of women in the power and energy industry to develop more diverse leadership. The activity is co-organized by School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of HUST, IEEE PES Wuhan Chapter and IEEE PES Hangzhou Chapter.
Members of IEEE PES WIP, members of IEEE PES, student members of IEEE PES, and representatives of China National Energy Administration, Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, as well as the Institute of New Energy Wuhan and “High Voltage” Editor Board will attend this activity. Dr. Jessica Bian (Member of US National Academy of Engineering), Dr. Ruomei Li (Member of Third World Academy of Sciences), Prof. Zhiyong Zhong (President-Elect of IEEE PES) (On line) and Prof. Chongqing Kang (President of IEEE PCCC) (On line) will be the honored guest.
The first day they will visit Laser Science and Technology Museum, Intelligent Manufacturing Workshop of Huagong Tech and the Institute of New Energy Wuhan. After visiting, an academic salon——“Observe the academician's road & Think about the future of energy” will be held. Dr. Jessica Bian will give a speech, then the participants will have a free discussion on “Clean Energy, Smarter Grids, Better Lives”. The second day they will visit National Pulsed Intense Magnetic Field (PIMF) and History Museum of HUST.
HGLASER is the pioneer and leader of laser industrial application in China. It is the world's leading provider both of laser equipment and intelligent manufacturing solutions, the core subsidiary of the well-known national high-tech listed company HGTECH.
Institute of New Energy, Wuhan Co., Ltd. (INEW) was set up in July 2016 by Wuhan Municipal People's Government and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). INEW is mainly committed to new energy technology R&D, project incubation and industrial investment and is determined to protect human sustainable development through the development and utilization of new energy.
The Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center (WHMFC) is a national research institute based on one of the twelve National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure Projects funded by the Chinese National Development and Reformation Committee. The center has completed the development of a pulsed high magnetic field facility and opened to public scientific researchers from both inland and abroad since October, 2014.
The university history exhibition is divided into four parts according to the timeline: Born in the Dawn of New China (Early 1950s - 1955), Growing under the Flag of the People's Republic of China (1955 - 1978), Taking Off during the Reform and Opening-up (1978 - 2012), and Striding towards a World-class University in the New Era (2012 - present).
