The IEEE Student Branch Vienna invites you to a workshop at TU Wien exploring the future of electronics with 2D materials. From synthesis to characterization and integration, the entire pipeline will be presented by leading international experts.

This class of materials has recently gained traction in research communities worldwide due to their unique physical and chemical properties, surpassing those of bulk materials used in many applications. Notable examples include their high charge carrier mobility, which enhances device performance, or their ultrathin structure, opening the door to scalability. These properties allow researchers to overcome limitations in traditional bulk materials and unlock new possibilities for further miniaturization.

This workshop offers the opportunity to learn about the groundbreaking potential of 2D materials as they revolutionize electronics and quantum technologies. You will have the chance to engage with international experts and gain insights into a range of cutting-edge topics, including 3D integration of 2D CMOS circuits, single-photon emitters in strained 2D semiconductors, quantum dots in graphene, and the key challenges in the characterization of these materials. Finally, the industrial perspectives will be addressed, highlighting current barriers and approaches for enabling widespread adoption. A buffet will conclude this workshop, providing an informal setting to engage with peers and speakers.

Key topics: quantum devices, quantum computing, nano-optoelectronics, CMOS, 3D integration, STEM (microscopy), strain engineering, 2D materials, semiconductors
