Abstract
This talk will explore the critical aspects of containerizing industry applications, focusing on practical strategies for packaging, deployment, and optimization. We'll begin by demystifying containerization, explaining its core principles and the significant advantages it offers for modern software development and operations, such as enhanced portability, consistency, and scalability.
We'll then dive into the specifics of packaging applications for containers, covering best practices for creating efficient and secure Docker images. This includes optimizing image size, leveraging multi-stage builds, and effectively managing dependencies. Subsequently, the session will address various deployment strategies for containerized applications, ranging from single-host deployments to orchestrating complex microservices architectures using tools like Kubernetes. We'll discuss considerations for production environments, including networking, storage, and secret management.
Finally, the talk will highlight key techniques for optimizing containerized applications to achieve peak performance and resource efficiency. This will encompass monitoring, logging, performance tuning within containers, and scaling strategies. Attendees will gain actionable insights and practical knowledge to confidently containerize their industry applications, streamlining their development workflows and enhancing operational resilience.
