EMP: What it is, and how it differs from a CME

Dan Lundwall, N7XDL, started his ham radio experience when in 1981 he survived two major earthquakes in South America.  One was a 7.5 and the other a 7.4.  That experience was a life changing one.  Dan wanted to learn how to communicate in the worst of circumstances and so was born his desire to use ham radio to do just that.  He is the founder and president of the Murray Amateur Radio Club, was the principal director of UtahSAG, an organization that supports sporting events across Utah, and served as the E.C. for Salt Lake County ARES, and is currently an AEC for the same organization.  Early in Dan's emergency preparedness work he became very interested in surviving natural disasters as well as man-made disasters, like EMP's for example.  He has studied with key emergency preparedness personalities and was taught by J. T. Smith at MIT the ins and outs of EMP's.  Dan's goal is to "pass it on" and dispel the many erroneous methods of preparing for sanitation, water, and communications issues, including EMP's and CME's.
