Abstract:

This talk presents advanced design methodologies for improving the performance of passive and active microwave antennas and circuits. Key topics include the internal multiport method (IMPM), which enables efficient and accurate modeling by capturing complex port interactions; the use of substrate integrated suspended line (SISL) technology, which offers low loss, high integration, and excellent compatibility for both antenna and circuit applications; and co-design strategies that jointly optimize antenna and circuit parameters to enhance overall system performance. These approaches provide powerful tools for addressing critical challenges in modern microwave and millimeter-wave systems.

Min Li (Senior Member, IEEE) received his B.S. degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2014 and his Ph.D. degree from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2018. He is currently a Professor at Tianjin University (TJU). Prior to joining TJU in 2024, he held several academic and research positions, including Postdoctoral Researcher at HKU (2018-2021), Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2021-2022), Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (2022-2023), and Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, UK (2023-2024). Dr. Li’s research interests lie in microwave antennas, circuits, and systems. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and received multiple honors for his work, including the IEEE AP-S Young Professional Ambassador (2025), Young Scientist Awards from URSI (2025) and ACES (2024), and IEEE Day Ambassador (2025). He has also been recognized in Stanford/Elsevier’s list of the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists (2021-2024). He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation and Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, and has been a Guest Editor for several journals, including the IEEE Journal of Selected Areas in Sensors and the IEEE Sensors Journal.
