The IEEE Women in Engineering New Zealand North Section invites you to a technical talk with Riku Luostari, who will present insights from his work at the intersection of machine learning (ML) and wireless communications. He will provide industry perspectives on how ML is shaping the future of wireless systems, with a technical focus on OFDM-based systems.
Riku will also share experiences from his international engineering and leadership roles and reflect on pursuing a PhD later in life, offering a perspective that bridges research and industry practice.

Biography:
Riku Luostari has over 20 years of international experience in radio network design and optimization, including serving as CTO for Nokia New Zealand. He currently works as Research Lead at Nokia R&D, focusing on the intersection of machine learning and wireless communications. While continuing his professional career, he is also pursuing a PhD at Aalto University in Finland, where his research explores practical aspects of ML in radio, bridging the gap between theory, simulations, and real-world practice.
