AI and Cybersecurity Workshop
This workshop is organized by the KPU Computer Science and Information Technology Department in collaboration with the IEEE Vancouver Joint Computer Society. The AI and Cybersecurity workshop will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at KPU’s Surrey Campus, Cedar 2110, Surrey, British Columbia. This session brings together IT professionals, faculty members, students, and members of the public who are interested in understanding how artificial intelligence is reshaping cybersecurity. The workshop will explore the opportunities and challenges of AI driven security, including ethical considerations, responsible use of AI, and emerging risk factors that affect individuals, organizations, and society. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in discussion, and gain a clearer understanding of how AI and cybersecurity intersect in practice. This event is ideal for anyone who wants to stay informed, think critically about the ethical dimensions of AI, and learn directly from industry experience in a rapidly evolving field.

Mr. Matthew Wilder
AI and Cybersecurity Workshop
Biography:
Matthew Wilder is a Senior Engineer in the CTO team at TELUS. With over two decades of experience at TELUS, Matthewhas distinguished himself not only through his technical expertise but also through his extensive involvement in key internet and engineering industry organizations. He represents TELUS at several prominent industry bodies, including the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), where he serves as a member of the Advisory Council representing the ARIN community, the North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG), and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Additionally, he serves as the Area West Chair for IEEE Canada, where he contributes to advancing the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' mission across western Canada, and has authored multiple articles published in IEEE Canadian Review. Through these leadership roles, Matthew contributes to shaping internet governance, policy development, and technical standards while advancing TELUS's strategic interests in the broader telecommunications and engineering ecosystems.
