AI-Based Smart Systems for Sustainable Waste Practices in Local Communities
This outreach initiative, supported by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Student Branch, aims to create awareness and practical understanding of how AI-based smart systems can address real-world waste management challenges in local communities. The program bridges circuits, systems, and AI technologies with sustainable waste practices, enabling students to apply engineering solutions for social and environmental impact.
The initiative highlights low-cost sensing circuits, embedded AI, and data-driven systems for waste segregation, monitoring, and organic waste conversion. Through technical talks, live demonstrations, and community interaction, students and participants explore scalable solutions that support circular economy models, clean cities, and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This activity strengthens student leadership, technical skills, and community engagement, while promoting IEEE CASS values of innovation, sustainability, and humanitarian technology.
