The IEEE SPS Distinguished Lecture Program on "Artificial Intelligence and Wearables for Health and Wellbeing: Proactive Actions" is delivered by Prof. Anderson Rocha, an IEEE Fellow and a world-renowned expert in AI from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. The session explores the transformative shift from reactive medical care to proactive, data-driven healthcare through the integration of signal processing and machine learning. Prof. Rocha highlights how wearable devices can continuously monitor physiological signals—such as heart rate, movement patterns, and glucose levels—to detect early biomarkers of chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases. By leveraging advanced AI algorithms to analyze this real-time data, the lecture emphasizes the importance of personalized, preventive interventions that enhance long-term wellbeing and reduce the burden on traditional healthcare systems.
