From Data to Action: Rethinking Healthcare and Public Health in the Digital Age
Healthcare and public health are often framed around new technologies and more data. But better outcomes do not come from data or technology alone, they come from systems that turn information into action and tools designed to fit how people actually work.
In this talk, Saugat Karki draws on his journey from clinical medicine into public health informatics to explore healthcare as a layered system shaped by care delivery, access, quality, data and technology, and broader policy and social context. Using real-world examples, he shows how data and technology can influence every layer when thoughtfully designed and implemented.
The session highlights practical principles for building systems that are more accessible, reliable, and responsive and invites students to think beyond tools to design health systems that actually work.
