NUCOR MILL TOUR
Tour the NUCOR STEEL MILL in Berkeley County!
NUCOR STEEL is North America's largest steel manufacturer and recycler. They are also one of the largest employers in the state.
This is a free guided tour through the Berkeley County mill. Please see details regarding safety.
CHECKING IN UPON ARRIVAL:
- Upon arrival, please stop at the guard shack so that your Nucor contact may be notified.
- You may be required to watch a brief safety and environmental video and read and sign the Gate Entry
Agreement at this time.
- The guard will direct you to the administration building or designated department building.
SAFE DRIVING ON NUCOR PROPERTY:
- Mobile phone use is STRICTLY prohibited for the driver of any moving vehicle including the use of hands-free
devices.
- It is required to come to a complete stop at all sets of railroad tracks and to obey all posted traffic signs.
- No passing. Heavy equipment and other mobile vehicles share the same roads as personal vehicles.
PROPER DRESS ATTIRE FOR TOURING THE MILL:
It is necessary that no exposed skin is showing below the beltline. At a minimum, visitors must wear a shirt, long pants,
socks fully covering ankles, and fully enclosed shoes with minimum or no heels. Additionally, visitors must not wear
excessively dangling jewelry.
Nucor will provide the following PPE (personal protective equipment) for your tour:
- Jacket
- Hard hat
- IR coated safety glasses
- Ear plugs
- Gloves
- Reflective vest (if necessary)
- Face covering (if necessary)
Although the use of cellular phones is permitted inside our production facility, we ask that you keep them pocketed during
your tour unless you are given direct permission for use by a Nucor employee. Photography is not permitted without
direct Nucor permission.
PRECAUTIONS:
- Pacemakers and other metallic/electric based medical devices may be adversely affected by intense
electromagnetic fields generated in some areas of our mill. Please consult your physician for any concerns.
- We encourage you to interact with any of Nucor’s production teammates, but please be mindful of your
surroundings and activities being performed in the area, and follow directions provided by your guide.
- There will be extensive walking including up and down stairs and across very high areas. When using stairs,
always use handrails to maintain at least 3 points of contact.
- Some areas of the tour route can be wet, dirty, dusty or muddy; however, every effort will be made to avoid these
areas.
- Although PPE is provided, avoid contact with coils, beams, and equipment.
- Depending on the detail of discussion, a full tour of our mill can last between 2 and 3 hours.
