2026 GET-AI SERIES: 3 . Practical AI for Everyday Productivity
As Generative AI rapidly moves from experimentation into everyday workflows, professionals across technical and business roles are discovering new ways to improve productivity, accelerate decision-making, and reduce repetitive work. From software engineering and product management to communication, research, and operations, AI assistants are increasingly becoming practical collaborators in day-to-day work.
Following our May session on “Security in AI,” the IEEE Orange County Computer Society GET-AI Series continues with a practical and demo-driven June session focused on how AI is transforming productivity across the modern workplace.
π June Focus: Practical AI for Everyday Productivity

As AI becomes integrated into modern workflows, organizations and individuals are leveraging AI tools to automate repetitive tasks, generate content, analyze information, accelerate software development, and streamline collaboration.
This session combines business and engineering perspectives to demonstrate how AI assistants and coding copilots are reshaping the way teams think, build, communicate, and operate.
Session 1: AI Productivity in Everyday Workflows (45 mins)
Most professionals spend a significant portion of their workweek on repetitive tasks such as drafting emails, writing documents, debugging code, summarizing meetings, analyzing feedback, or preparing presentations.
This session demonstrates how AI assistants such as Claude can act as practical productivity partners across both technical and non-technical workflows.
Through live demonstrations, attendees will explore real-world scenarios including:
Engineering Productivity
- Understanding legacy code
- Debugging production issues faster
- Generating features from natural language requirements
- Writing unit tests and pull request summaries
Business & Product Productivity
- Converting rough notes into structured PRDs
- Extracting insights from customer feedback
- Drafting stakeholder communications
- Preparing executive presentations and interview guides
The session concludes with a live audience challenge where a real attendee workflow problem will be solved interactively using AI.
π Takeaway: Learn practical prompting techniques and AI workflows that can immediately improve day-to-day productivity.
Session 2: AI-Assisted Engineering & Modern Software Development (45 mins)
AI is rapidly reshaping how engineers design, build, review, deploy, and operate software systems. This session explores how AI is evolving from a coding assistant into a practical engineering copilot across the software delivery lifecycle.
Topics include real-world usage of:
- Codex
- Cline
- MCP-enabled development workflows
- GitHub, Bitbucket, and Confluence integrations
The session also explores how AI can accelerate:
- Pull request reviews
- Design documentation
- Architecture visualization using Mermaid and draw.io
- Test generation
- Troubleshooting and debugging
A key focus will be AI-assisted spec-driven development, where AI helps bridge business requirements, technical specifications, implementation, and deployment workflows.
The discussion includes:
- Productivity gains and engineering trade-offs
- Reliability considerations
- Human oversight and governance
- Practical lessons from enterprise adoption
Rather than focusing on theoretical AI concepts, this session emphasizes practical engineering workflows and actionable techniques that architects, developers, and technical leaders can immediately apply.
π Takeaway: Understand how AI-assisted engineering workflows are transforming modern software delivery and learn practical approaches for enterprise adoption.
