Soft skills are something that are generally not taught and must be learned
through experience. This presentation will cover engineering soft skills
learned over the course of my career and life that apply to both engineering
and everyday life. The main areas covered include surviving everyday stress,
relationships, communication, toxicity and conflict resolution. Tools and
techniques are provided to help survive the everyday pitfalls of a working
professional.

Biography:

Rich has been in product safety and regulatory compliance for over 40 years.
He is a graduate of Purdue University with EE and ME backgrounds. He has
worked on both the manufacturer and safety agency sides of product safety
and regulatory compliance for companies such as Underwriter's Laboratories,
TUV, Hewlett Packard and ThermoFisher. Throughout his career he has been
involved in the development of tests and standards, safety design and
regulatory compliance over areas including: consumer, industrial, test and
measurement, medical, laser, telecom, fire/burglary and SEMI industries. He
has been both a manager and individual contributor and has worked with
people and teams at all levels from around the globe. This wide breadth of
knowledge and experience provides a unique perspective on compliance and
working with people.
